Social And Environmental – Associate/Senior Associate (Climate Resilience)

Looking for a multiskilled, detail-oriented and ambitious Associate/Senior Associate with formal education in in Architecture/ Sustainable Urban Planning and Development/ Environmental Science and a minimum of 2-5 years professional experience to build their career while improving Malaysia’s resilience and capacity to adapt to climate change impacts.

The purpose of this position is to contribute to a wide range of climate-related work that the organisation is undertaking, ranging from policy recommendation, formulation and implementation of adaptation plans to climate risk analysis. You will build collaborative relationships with colleagues across other flagships, as well as with key institutions, authorities and other international partners.

To be a successful Associate/Senior Associate, you should focus on contributing your expertise to help drive the climate change agenda relating to mitigation and adaptation that are in line with the organisation’s aspiration. Ultimately, an exceptional Associate/Senior Associate will be self-driven to design, implement and monitor multiple initiatives while collaborating with internal and external partners. Your manager and other senior members are there to guide you.

Responsibilities include:

  • Driving the coordination and implementation of all aspects of selected major projects and commissions.
  • Maintain a strong partnership with support departments/ stakeholders/ donors to ensure project compliance and effective coordination across various functions.
  • Quality control measures for both internal and external outputs and deliverables, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and adherence to project standards.
  • Data compilation, meeting and project workshop/conferences/summit preparation, logistics, preparation of briefing papers/presentations.
  • Engage with communities to co-design interventions.
  • Thoroughly document project methodologies and processes/procedures, providing a robust framework for defending project decisions and facilitating replication in future endeavours.
  • Maintain up to date documentation and filing systems.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master/ degree in Architecture/ Sustainable Urban Planning and Development/ Environmental Science 

Minimum years of experience:

  • 2-5 years of work experience
  • Exposure to community-based or not-for-profit activity and urban regeneration projects

Kind of experience:

  • Track record in urban and / or environment related organisations or projects
  • Experience in delivering urban projects 
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in knowledge management 
  • Good English and Malay language knowledge are required, both written and verbal.
  • Solid organisational skills including multi-tasking and attention to detail.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong design skills and knowledge of design software such as GIS (such as ArcGIS, QGIS), Abode Suite and Sketch-up
