Manager – Strategy & Analytics

The position requires the candidate to take a lead role in the delivery and management of major projects being undertaken by Think City. It requires outstanding project management, communication (written and verbal) and analytical skills. The candidate should have knowledge of government policy and protocols, the needs of the private sector, and practicalities of engaging with the community. The incumbent will be required to manage the day-to-day needs of projects as well as offer strategic insight based on analysis of complex urban, social, and economic datasets. The position requires a deep understanding of urban development and issues in Malaysia, economic trends and the benefits of enhanced liveability and connectivity. The incumbent will be able to synthesise key issues and articulate them into briefing papers, policy reports and /or in verbal presentations.

 

Reporting Relationship

  • Reports directly to Director / Senior Manager
  • Reports indirectly to PMO and ad-hoc project team leads

Key Accountabilities

Project Management

  • Assist in management of all aspects of selected major projects and commissions.
  • Data compilation, meeting and workshop preparation, logistics, preparation of briefing papers/presentations
  • Quality control of internal and external outputs and deliverables

Data Analytics

  • Collate, compile and/or collect spatial and temporal data on the Malaysian urban system and other required data
  • Undertake detailed analysis of large databases, identifying key trends and issues
  • Contribute towards data analytics needs of the organisation as required
  • Translate data analytics into key insights to inform evidence-based city-making solutions and/or policy approaches using advanced data visualisation

Policy Development

  • Produce written reports, documents and presentations with adequate evidence to guide decision making processes
  • Synthesise data analysis into digestible reports and policy statements with clear recommendations
  • Provide written and analytical input into the development of major studies, publications, and project outputs

Business Development and Innovation

  • Develop and support proposals for external clients/stakeholders including scope, budget, and timeline
  • Ideate, explore, and develop innovative projects to support Think City’s internal research and innovation
  • Advocate Think City’s value proposition to potential clients (e.g., through presentations, thought leadership development)

Talent Management

  • Lead project teams including being responsible for team well-being
  • Coach and mentor Think City team members and external stakeholders to develop technical and soft skills

General administrative

  • Provide internal and external project/organisation update reports
  • Ensure satisfactory reporting to PMO
  • Manage administrative tasks as required (e.g. financial, filing, invoicing, logistics)

 

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters in economics, social sciences, statistics commerce, politics, urban planning or similar
